Welcome back to this week’s review of the UK private equity and venture capital markets, powered by data exclusively from PE Deals (pe-deals.com). The latest weekly tracking period from 21 September 2026 to 28 September 2026 has delivered an astonishing period of dealmaking, characterized by mega-ticket transactions that have completely transformed the scale of capital deployment.
During this week, the UK market recorded a total of 39 transactions, driving an exceptional £17.8bn in total capital deployed. This surge was heavily skewed toward the financial technology sector, which not only dominated deal count with 6 transactions but also commanded the lion’s share of total capital through monumental rounds that have put British fintech firmly back in the global spotlight. Industrials and Energy followed closely with 5 deals, while Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Biotech, and Software and SaaS each secured 4 transactions.
The story of the week is undoubtedly the sheer scale of the top-tier transactions, led by two staggering fintech giants. Beazley claimed the largest spot with an £8.1bn deal, closely followed by Monzo at £8bn. Beyond these multi-billion-pound behemoths, the Healthcare and Biotech sector punchily asserted itself with Neko Health raising £553m and Heidi securing £269m. Meanwhile, Business Services made its presence felt through Pollen Street at £490m, proving that large-scale private equity activity remains robust across multiple verticals.
On the investor side, activity was remarkably diverse, with Mercia leading the charge by completing 2 deals. They were joined by a range of active participants including Brad Wheeler, Low Carbon Innovation Fund 3, Innovate UK’s Investor Partnerships Programme, the European Innovation Council, NPIF II – FW Capital Debt Finance, and Tilray, highlighting a healthy ecosystem spanning early-stage venture to large-scale institutional backing.
